The Town of Paradise Valley (Town) is seeking a Police Dispatcher to support the Town's mission to provide high-quality public services to a community that values limited government and under general supervision.
The Police Dispatcher answers routine and emergency 911 telephone calls and operates two-way radios to answer questions and dispatch law enforcement officers to respond to calls and alarms, as part of a high-functioning Communications Team.

More specifically, the Police Dispatcher with the Town:
Adheres to the Bullet Proof Culture and practices the 12 fundamentals in daily work.
Answers emergency 9-1-1 phone calls and evaluates calls, determines response needed, and documents accordingly.
Dispatches appropriate law enforcement officers and/or transfers calls to other public safety agencies.
Answers routine telephone calls, responding to questions regarding Police Department operations.
Operates Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), and department network computer systems to enter and retrieve information and data.
Operates radio system and maintains communication with officers in the field.
Monitors the Town alarm system, including identifying and verifying the type and location of the alarm source, determining appropriate response to handle the situation, and dispatching police or fire units to the alarm location.

To become a Police Dispatcher, the Town requires:
A high school diploma or GED.
Two years of full-time law enforcement/public safety dispatch work, which includes responsibility for data entry and records maintenance.
The successful candidate must also:
Meet background requirements according to the CJIS Security Policy and possess certification or have ability to become certified to operate terminal NCIC and ACJIS terminals within six (6) months of hire.
Obtain and maintain any state certifications required by the state of Arizona for the position of Police Dispatcher.
Successfully complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph examination; employment, driving, and criminal history checks; a psychological evaluation; a controlled substance screening, and a medical evaluation.
