Vehicle Description 1953 FORD COUNTRY SEDAN WAGON - FOR SALE This is a beautiful near fully restored, very rare 53 Ford Country Sedan Wagon.
The last year of Ford's flat head engine and Ford's 50th Anniversary year.
This car has been garaged and covered for the last nine years that I have owned it and only driven a few miles every couple of weeks for exercise or down to the local car show about five miles away where it always draws a lot of interest.
It runs well and has been carefully maintained and serviced.
No major mechanical issues since I purchased in 2011.
The only change since I purchased it has been installation of a set of headers and dual exhausts on the flathead.
The original manifolds will be included with the purchase in case someone wants to return the engine to absolute stock.
Routine service such as points and plugs, oil changes and filter, radiator flush, battery replacement, etc.
All service history maintained.
Not many of these old wagons were saved.
The exterior of the vehicle is in excellent condition.
All lines match.
The two-tone original Ford color paint is in good condition with no dents or bondo repairs.
The chrome bumpers, grill, side molding, and emblems are in polished condition throughout.
The windshield, door windows and backlite are in excellent condition.
All seals are in good condition.
The speedometer has been disconnected since I noticed it made a rattling sound so I just had it disconnected instead of having it replaced.
Hence, there is no way to know the exact mileage other than it is doubtful I added more than 1000 miles in the nine years since I owned it.
The odometer showed 66+K when I disconnected it.
It works, it is just noisy.
It has a three-speed column shift manual transmission that works great, as well as Ford's Overdrive feature that still works.
The tires are in excellent condition and there is no rust on the car.
The suspension, brakes, and frame are solid with no mechanical issues.
The interior metal door frames, dashboard and door lining are still original as is the rubberized folding floor bed in the back (see photo).
The dashboard clock and radio both are original but were not working when I purchased the car and have not been restored to working order.
The radio antenna (a manual extending rod) also was missing when I purchased it and not replaced.
Provenance of the vehicle is also included.
